Spent a few sunny, magical days in Amsterdam! Felt very whimsical. Loved all of the canals and bikes and flowers.
The first day, just walked. A lot. Cruised around the city on foot. So many pedestrians and bikers! Passed by many bakeries and almost bought a book from the blind date section at a bookstore.
So many flowers!!! Obsessed. Obsessed, obsessed, obsessed. If I wasn't traveling & so transient on this trip, I would have bought a bouquet each day.
Middle photo below is the famous "Dancing Houses" the crooked houses on the canal that look like they're swaying.
Went to the Van Gogh Museum! I really enjoyed it and learned a lot. As you went through the museum & and up the different floors, you entered a different phase of Van Gogh's life. Getting to the end and reading more about his death was very sad.
Even got to do yoga at the museum. Really, really enjoyed that.
Rijksmuseum. National Museum of Netherlands.
Got to see the famous Night Watch painting! Wasn't allowed to take pictures of it, so just this placard above. The painting was HUGE. And heavily protected.
Have I mentioned I'm obsessed with beautiful libraries? There's just something about them.
Went on a lovely sunset canal cruise! So enjoyed this. Ate cheese and mini stroop waffles, drinking white wine, floating along on the water.
Loved that at the hostel I stayed at, you could pop out the window ledge and hang out above the street. Swung my feet over the ledge and just people watched for while.
Anne Frank House. Wasn't allowed to take pictures, except for of the old Annex, I believe.
Bye, Amsterdam! You were so lovely. Here are some wild raspberries and my backpacks.
